Mocha Girl Alysia -Founder/Organizer of Los Angeles Chapter
I am the daughter of a bookaholic currently living in Los Angeles after several years traveling and living in South Korea, Egypt and Japan. I loved them all equally and read so many books on my travels. I am single with an overstuffed book case. This whole experience I have had and still having with this book club is the “Cherry on top!”
Favorite Books of all time: The Red Tent, Lamb, All the Anne Rice Vampire books, Room, The Help and many more. My TBR list is crazy long: The 19th Wife, Angelology, The Secret Lives of Dresses, Bo’s Cafe, and The Aloha Quilt. I started Mocha Girls Read to be with Black women who want to read and love books.
Mocha Girl Rochelle – Organizer of Tempe Chapter
I am native of St. Louis, Mo. now presently living here in Tempe, AZ. I live my life with purpose and passion. I believe that you should live your life to the Fullest!![]()
Favorite book of all time: I have two books that I often find myself reference back to (1) Lessons in Living by Susan L. Taylor read this in July, 1997 and (2) When Good isn’t Good Enough by Ron Willingham (2002) at that time in my life these books helped me make it through the storms in my life. My favorite book could be at any giving time one that I get lost in and I become that character, I can feel that characters emotion through out the book, that book that I don’t want to put down, it keeps me reading anxiously awaiting the end; *Keep in mind, I am a “Happy Ending” girl (lol) On my TBR list: I purpose and plan on reading 2 books a month starting January 2012, that will be inclusive of my monthly read with my Mocha Girls Read’s book. ![]()
I joined Mocha Girls Read to meet other like minded readers, to share our thoughts and opinions on the books that we read individually but come together as a whole and chat it up!

Mocha Girl Rosanne – Organizer of New Lenox Chapter
Who I am is summed up in these 3 quotes: “You should read any book that fuels the spirit and feeds the soul.” “What you send in to the lives of others comes back into your own.” and “Friends are family that we choose.”
Favorite book of all time: That’s an easy one…The Bible. Without it I wouldn’t be able to get through this ultimate journey called LIFE. On my TBR list: The book on my TBR list is Half the Sky. I have seen the video documentary, but I want to purchase the book.
After reading Mocha Girls Read mission statement, it represented what I was searching for in a book club.
