Law Reigns is so thankful to join Mocha Girls Read. Having studied creative writing and literature where blood runs orange and blue, she published her debut novel Superheroes Wear Faded Denim shortly after graduating from the University of Florida. Although she loves a well-written, character-driven novel with an undertone of romance, she is down for reading anything. She has yet to find her favorite author. What is your favorite book?
I do not have one. I love character-driven novels. There have been three books I have read recently that definitely satisfied my craving. Sugar by Bernice L. McFadden was such a well written, bittersweet read that I just could not get enough of.
Another is Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay. I just love the protagonist’s unique voice. I felt like I was sitting across from him at a café listening to him explain his love for murdering bad guys. Crazy read, huh? It definitely is.
Another one is Tears of Elios by Crista McHugh. Her main characters were so engaging, I saw holes in the plot, and I still loved the book. There were laugh-out-loud moments. When I flipped to the last page, I actually got sad. Having not felt that way in a long time about a book, I definitely have to recommend her novel.
