Law Reigns, your friendly blogger spotlight host

Law Reigns is so thankful to join Mocha Girls Read.  Having studied creative writing and literature where blood runs orange and blue, she published her debut novel Superheroes Wear Faded Denim shortly after graduating from the University of Florida. Although she loves a well-written, character-driven novel with an undertone of romance, she is down for reading anything. She has yet to find her favorite author. Feel free to connect with her on Facebook or Twitter to suggest a good read.

 What is your favorite book?

I do not have one. I love character-driven novels. There have been three books I have read recently that definitely satisfied my craving. Sugar by Bernice L. McFadden was such a well written, bittersweet read that I just could not get enough of.

Another is Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay. I just love the protagonist’s unique voice. I felt like I was sitting across from him at a café listening to him explain his love for murdering bad guys. Crazy read, huh? It definitely is.

Another one is Tears of Elios by Crista McHugh. Her main characters were so engaging, I saw holes in the plot, and I still loved the book. There were laugh-out-loud moments. When I flipped to the last page, I actually got sad. Having not felt that way in a long time about a book, I definitely have to recommend her novel.

What is on your TBR list?

  • Save my Soul by K.S. Haigwood
  • Legend of Apollo by Kashif Ross
  • Taste by Kate Evangelista
  • Never Say Never by Kailin Gow
  • Soul Sisters by Janiera Eldridge
  • Easy by Tammara Webber
  • Blood to Blood by Ife Oshun
  • The Light-Bearer Series by Emily Guido

Why did you join Mocha Girls Read?

How could I not? I am excited to network and promote bloggers and authors like myself.

Burton Barr Central Library Image from Bridge and Tunnel Club

Everyone loves a Festival!  And if you mix books and art in a Festival then you are bound to have a great time no matter what.

The Festival will feature more than 130 book, art, corporate and food vendors from Arizona and across the country.  This will include booths with publishers, authors, artists, business and culinary products to excite the literary, creative, business and dining palates. In addition to visual art exhibits, there will live concerts on the outdoor stage, a stage in the publishers-authors-artist pavilion, plus seminars and meet & greets with renown national authors.  Children will also have hands-on projects, books and inflatable items to jump on.

The Phoenix Book Fair and Art Festival will be FREE and open to the public. The 2-day event is scheduled to be held October 21 & 22, 2011 at the Burton Barr Central Library and Margaret T. Hance Park, 1221 N. Central Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85004.
