Why I Love Wednesday

Why I Love Wednesdays…Types of Endings

Reflections of a Bookaholic

Mocha Girl Alexis from Reflections of a Bookaholic started a Wednesday Meme called Why I Love Wednesday.  What is a Meme you ask?  According to wikipedia…The term “Internet meme” refers to a catchphrase or concept that spreads rapidly from person to person via the Internet, largely through Internet-based email, blogs, forums, Imageboards, social networking sites and instant messaging.  Basically, a topic from the meme host (Alexis) is posted on participating blogs with blog authors (me) answering it on their site (here).

The topic this Wednesday is…Types of Endings

This one is easy!  I love endings that make you wonder if there is going to be another book coming.  I need a few resolutions here and there to tie up some loose ends before it ends.  As for my mom she ALWAYS needs a happy ending.  She even will go as far as to read the ending first just to see if she will like the book.

What types of endings do you like?  Are you a sucker for a happy ending?  Or do you need a cliff hanger?  Leave a comment.

Good Morning, Wonderful Wednesday, Woot Woot… I am a sucker for Happy Endings, but I will not go to the end to check first to see, I will read the entire book in hopes of a happy ending… Im just a Happy Ending kinda girlie:-))

  • Oh, this is so great. Think I’ll write up something quick on this one. I love phenomenal endings with impact. Many books kind of slip here, which I believe should be more powerful than the opening.

Hey Mocha… and Rochelle. What are you ladies up to? LOL. Hope you didn’t think I forgot about ya’ll! When’s our next chat?

    • RCYJ you and Rochelle have been on my sleepy mind every single day. I have been in crazy land and trying to find a minute to call you two. Miss you and I will try to make some quality time soon.

  • LOL, your Mom is funny. And I’m with her, give me happy ending. Occasionally I like the cliffhangers. As long as I know the next book will provide answers. But for the most part, HEA’s are my thing.

  • I don’t need happy endings. I need closure. As long it’s rapped up by the end, I’m good. I don’t like having a thousand unanswered questions. But happy endings are always good too. 🙂 I couldn’t read the ending and then read the book, I would lose all interest.

    • I don’t know how she does it! But she has been doing it since I was a kid!

  • I love cliff hangers but I probably love happy endings just a little bit more! 🙂

  • I am one of those people who likes to skip to the ending but the crazy part is it does not ruin the book for me. If anything it makes me want to read the book more to figure out how we got to where we did at the end. I just like a good ending! I hate books that have generic endings, endings that do not make sense, or endings where your the movie in your head cannot close out quite nicely. Happy endings are nice, but sometimes sad endings or unexpected endings are even better. =)

    • I am so over generic endings too! I love unexpected endings like in Water For Elephants. I just finished that book and loved the unexpected ending. It was perfect.

  • Really?! But what if there isn’t another book after. Are you disappointed? I love your answer because you surprised me and made me think.

    • Not sure if this was posed to me but I will answer anyway. lol I don’t like just happy endings because life is not that cut and dry. If all we were presented were happy endings then how would we be able to appreciate and get through the bad times? Also I do not believe anything is finished until you die then obviously you are through, so unless an author kills all the characters off I know that it is just this moment in their lives that is finished not necessarily their life (or rather this is what I believe). I do not get disappointed because I have cheated life this one time and was able to skip ahead to know what to expect there for I do not set my expectations for the book unrealistically leaving no room for disappointment. lol I know it is a different way of thinking and even living life, but my life has taught me that everyone has a different method. Doesn’t necessarily mean they are right or I am right it just shows me how different and truly unique we all are. I hope this made sense to you if you were directing the questions to my post . =)

      • ooo…it made sense to me. Nicely presented.

    • I am dying to find out if Room will ever have a part 2. I would love to see what happens but a part of me has o let it go. LOL!
